The name VHI Koudetechniek B.V. stands for Van Helmond Industriële Koudetechniek. The foundation of the organization was laid in 1978 by Theo Nas with the establishment of Koeltechnisch Buro Nas, which subsequently changed its name to NAS Koudetechniek. Initially focused on pig slaughterhouses, the company grew into a market leader in the meat sector. Director-owner Bart van Helmond took over the company on 1 January 2005 and set a new course with a broader focus on industrial refrigeration.
